Dear Tired Mama,
I see you. Somewhere in those towering piles of laundry that never seem to vanish and the dishes that never seem to leave the sink. I see you managing those late-night fevers, sleeping in the toddler bed after a night-terror, and finishing that costume in the wee hours of the morning.
You feel like you’re holding it all together. Or maybe you feel like you’re not, but I promise—you are. Not perfectly, not effortlessly, but with a strength and love that only a mama can muster. And in those moments when you feel like you can’t take another step, remember you’re never alone. God sees your efforts, hears your prayers, and walks with you through the chaos, the exhaustion, the frustration, the disappointment, and the heartache. And then he offers his grace for that day.

For the Mama who just needs to sleep,
Your newborn cries for hours. You’re bouncing, swaying, humming, and praying. As you gently rock the quieting baby, your eyes burn, your body aches, and you drift off into a few moments of precious sleep, wondering if you can make it through another day on coffee and string cheese.
Then, dawn breaks, and you wake to the soft rhythm of breathing on your neck and sweaty hair stuck to your cheek—there is grace for today!
Ooooh goodness, it’s been a minute since those days in my home.
For the Mama in the toddler stage,

The tantrums that erupt over mismatched socks or the wrong color sippy cup. The endless energy of chasing little feet down hallways and sprinting across playgrounds. It feels like a test of endurance and power struggles. But in the midst of it, there are giggles that bubble up and fill the room. There are sticky hugs and whispers of “I love you” that wrap around your heart as if it may burst—there is grace for today!
For the Mama shuffling older kids,
It often feels like a relentless juggling act. Soccer practices, dance recitals, checkups, 4-H club meetings, birthday parties, and fundraisers fill your calendar, turning each day into a whirlwind of appointments and endless to-do lists with no appreciation of the mental capacity it takes to keep it all together.

Then, just when you think you’ve managed the days chaos, a sudden shout of: “Ouch! My braces just broke and are stabbing my cheek!”—and with that, yet another unplanned errand lands on your plate.
But, as you drop your 13-year-old off at youth group and prepare for two glorious hours of solo grocery shopping in blessed silence, she stops, turns around, and says, “Thanks for the ride, Mama!” And in those simple words—there is grace for today!
For the working Mama,

Navigating the demands of work while raising little ones. The constant tug-of-war between report deadlines and being present when you’re exhausted.
You rush to finish client calls before they hear children arguing in the background.
You hurry to wrap up that last meeting so as to avoid disapproving looks at another late daycare pick-up. Arrive home to prepare some sort of dinner and toss in a load of laundry before baths and bedtime stories.
In the quiet moments when the laptop is shut and the house is finally still; you sit on the edge of the bed and hope that what you were able to give today, was enough. You bow your head and ask the Lord, to bless what you can do and cover what you cannot—there is grace for today!
For the homeschooling Mama,
Another fight over math, with a frustrated “I can’t do it” and a pencil being thrown. Another argument over who’s turn it is to open our day in prayer. Another failed science experiment. Another day of “Pleeeeease, just one more chapter!” from your middle schooler snuggling against you on the couch, as you close “Lord of the Rings” —there is grace for today!
For the Mama who needs to be encouraged,

God rained down bread from heaven, each morning for the Israelites. Yes, it was a test to see if they would follow his instructions, but it was also an invitation to trust him as the provider of their needs for that day alone.
To provide a physical need of nourishment, an emotional need of being cared for, and the spiritual need of knowing it was supernaturally sent from heaven.
And he does the same for us now.
God gives us grace for today, because tomorrow is not guaranteed. Each day, He offers us the gift of grace and invites us to gather it.
He calls us to trust Him as the provider of our needs for this day alone. We must take action and “go out to gather our daily portion”—our blessings, our joy, our peace. Just as the heavenly bread appeared every morning for the taking, His grace awaits us each day.
We learn later in Exodus that those who tried to hoard the manna for the next day, found it spoiled. Maybe they didn’t trust God to provide more or maybe they didn’t want to get up early to gather it. Whatever their reasons may have been, they were left hungry and wanting for the day ahead.
We cannot carry today’s grace into tomorrow because it has not happened yet. Tomorrow will be its own new day with new challenges, that require their own portion of grace. Not the leftovers from yesterday. But the full fresh portion offered in that moment, for that specific challenge.
What is your challenge today?
Are you overwhelmed with your To-Do list? Are you praying you can make it to nap time?
If this is you, hold on. Trust that you’re doing holy work, even if it feels mundane and unappreciated. Remember to gather your daily portion of Jesus today. You’re sowing seeds in your children’s hearts. And one day, you’ll look back and see the fruits of your labor. You’ll see the laughter, the memories, the lessons, and the love that were born out of these exhausting, messy, beautiful days. And you will see the moments where God, “rained bread from heaven” in your live and over those hard seasons.
Remember, God doesn’t ask us to be perfect; He asks us to give him our imperfections and to trust Him with the fear, worry, and failures. He longs for us to know his father’s heart for us. He longs to give us grace for the journey, and to know his mercies are new every morning.
So go now and gather your daily portion of that heavenly bread.
With love and many blessings, may you always have A Craving for Home!
